While You Wait

Exciting Things to do in the Area While Quarterpath is Under Construction

Buy a good pair of walking shoes—and a new bicycle helmet. You’ll want to explore our lovely environment, and our walking/biking trails will take you from the village to the woods, the pond and beyond.

Invest in binoculars. While you’re out there, you’ll have a great opportunity for some high-quality bird watching. (Keep an eye out for ospreys and eagles.)

Make a list of business associates you want to take to lunch. And impress.

Plan your out-to-dinner wardrobe. Be ready with smart selections that go from simple elegance to casual chic.

Visit the Magazine on Duke of Gloucester Street, Colonial Williamsburg. In 1775, this was the destination for British troops who wanted to steal gunpowder and munitions. They walked down Quarterpath Road to get there.

Introduce your children the second-oldest college in America with a stroll around the beautiful campus of The College of William & Mary.

Visit the redoubts at Quarterpath.

Golf, anyone? Choose from the area’s 22 courses, including nearby Golden Eagle.

Spend a Saturday morning at the Williamsburg Farmer’s Market, open spring through fall in Merchants Square

Get acquainted with the new medical facility in your back yard. Drop by or go online to learn about Riverside Doctor’s Hospital

Think “Tidewater.” Take a (car) ferry ride across the James River from Jamestown to Surry. Visit the Mariners’ Museum or The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News. Stroll, shop and enjoy lunch at Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown with a view of the York River.

Think “Plants.” Visit the Norfolk Botanical Garden, an easy drive down I-64 from Quarterpath; 155 acres of “something always in bloom” at this fascinating Virginia landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
